For Halloween, Claire wanted to be Pebbles, a character from the Flinstones, a show she'd never seen until this week. I don't bother to question anything anymore.

An Update on SIUC
Hi everyone. I am finally able to post things thanks to Daniel. I thought I should give you all an update on the college life! It's a bit of a struggle being 6 hours away from home. Thankfully I have 3 amazing friends that are making the transition much easier. I'm studying biology (which is already keeping me very busy), but I'm working hard! Fortunately I have strong Thompson genes and I am still very independent and have yet to conform to the crazies that I go to school with. I attempted to join a sorority and quickly learned three days later that I am way too much of my own person to conform to that. So I quit. I'm still keeping up with my art...(slowly but surely), and hope that I might finish one of my two paintings in the next four years or so. Ha!
I can't wait to see all of you at Thanksgiving! Miss you, Thompson clan.
Sincerely your youngest,
Em

Song MY Grandma Thompson sang
My cousin sent these words to me. Grandma Thompson would gather all the little kids around, let her hair down, and sing...then alway finished it with a crazy loud scream. Ever wonder where Dad got his humor? Yup...Grandma T. Priceless.
SKIN AND BONES
There was an old woman,---skin and bones,-
-mmm-mmmmm-mmmmmm
She thought she’d go to church one day ,to hear the parson preach and pray
Mmmmmm---mmmmm--mmmmm
She got to the church house door, she thought she‘,d rest a little more
Mmmmmm---mmmmmm-mmmmmm
She looked up and she looked down, she spied a corspe upon the ground
Mmmmmmm--mmmmmm--mmmmmmm
The woman to the preacher said, will we look so when we are dead
Mmmmmm-mmmmmmm-mmmmmmmm
The preacher to the woman said ,yes we’ll look so when we are dead
Mmmmmm---mmmmmmm-mmmmmmm
The preacher preached & the woman sung (NOW SCREAM)

My in-house model
I have a little knitting shop online, as most of you probably already know considering I spent my first Thanksgiving with you all in 2007 knitting like crazy to get it launched during the holidays that year. Though I've stepped back a little this year, I'm back to knitting and putting new things in the shop all the time. (You can check it out HERE if you are so inclined).
I am lucky enough to have a fabulous, free-of-charge, in-house model! Here are a couple of shots of us yesterday during a mini-photo shoot.

Thompson/Johnson hair history
When Christopher was in junior high, I bought a pair of hair clippers and didn't realize one setting shaved the head. I had already begun cutting his hair when I realized it was cutting it to the scalp. I couldn't just leave a chunck out, so I did a whole strip around his head. This was WAY before those type of haircuts were in style. He had to go to school and the ass. principle made a smart comment in chapel about some people cutting their hair with a lawnmower. I felt like the worst mom in the world, and Christopher was so nice about it. He just said, "It's ok mom." It took so long to grow out. Then he grew into an obsession about his big hair...and we spent a fortune on haircuts to keep his hair from getting big.
