Sepporahs 1st game

Yes, the Thompson Monkey was real

My kids often ask if the story was true--that Phyllis had a monkey as a kid. And that we were terrorized by him--because he was terrorized as a captive. Poor little guy was insane when he got loose. Not the nice little monkey image from TV and movies. Monkey's shouldn't be pets. We shouldn't have had a monkey. Anyone remember his name?

Gabe the Pilot-in-training

Gabe is beginning the process of becoming a pilot. In the mean time, check out the new ride: a 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado Police bike purchased from the original owner.

The Next Generation In Invention

Here's Daniel's latest story, published today by Metromote, about some robotics programs for kids in the area to get them into robotics and technology, largely funded by the military. Really interesting from a technological and a human perspective.

Thompson Ticker Feed

FYI, my mom, Chris and Jessica are vacationing in the Smokey Mountains. They'll be there until Saturday. I'm jealous.

who is this guy?

This is what happens when your kid goes off to college. He returns a new man.

Daughters grow up so fast

Daniel's post(s) made me think of Kristen at that age. Only she would talk with you forever. She was quite a little storyteller and loved to share her days. Now she talks to her beloved little Charlie more than me--likely because I talked to her in mixed up accents. : ) Funny thing is she talks to Charlie in strange voices so I know I passed along the Thompson humor gene. She puts on the funniest improv skits of Charlie as puppet--keeps us all very entertained. Anyway, she's lovely. Thought I'd share.

Happy Birthday Stephen!

Stephen's birthday is tomorrow, Saturday, but since there is not much activity on the blog on the weekend, we can wish him a happy birthday today----or whatever you want to say. I have noticed that the Thompson and Johnson guys leave some interesting compliments!

Congratulations Scott!

Since we are in the bragging mode about our kids, I will brag about one of mine. Scott finished classes last week, earning a Masters Degree.

pics of my kids

Since the boys are so obsessed with cute pics of their kids I thought I'd add to the fray. Just an FYI--my kids are ALWAYS happy to see me, never ask for money, rarely throw tantrums, eat what they're given, take care of their toys, or fight. However, they do snore and drool on occasion. But that's endearing. Oh, and those other kids...I still love 'em. But they won't let me chase them around the yard anymore or take walks with me (let alone let me take cute pics of them).

First grader!

She's keeps correcting me that's she's not in first grade YET, but I say if Kindergarten is over, first grader it is!

There was a little picnic for parents today and we snapped a few photos of Claire and her BF Viktoria. We're having a little "School's Out!" celebration on Friday night. She's so grown up! Reading like crazy (it still amazes me!) and creating the most incredible works of art. I can't wait to see what first grade will bring!

Happy Friday humans

My parents are away and I am ready to play. Mom and Dad are going to the Blues Fest in Chicago so Kristen is "watching" me. That means I can pretty much chew whatever I feel like--including Dad's favorite leather chair. And Mom doesn't like me eating her plants so that's a priority. Lola is at Cheryl's so that makes me alpha queen and the boys will bow down to me. And if I can catch Charlie, the sly pug--the bane of my existence--I will bite his curly little tail so hard he will never steal my ball again. What a great weekend ahead--the house is all mine. All mine. Best part is when Mom comes back home she'll just yell at Kristen--and I will give her this look in the pic--and she'll just say, "You sweet little terror-how can I be mad at you?" I got this whole dog human thing down. I'm workin it. Ooh...shiny object...must chase...

Our weekend in Arkansas with friends and relatives.

This is us with Auntie and Uncle John in the living room of the house at Pocahontas.

The two couples on the right are: Bernice & Max Billips and Bob & Patsy Poe. They were part of our youth group in the 40's at the Assembly of God in Pocahontas. Some wonderful memories of those years.

This is us with Carroll and Patsy Thompson. Carroll is Grandpa's brother and he is the one who has lung cancer. They live at Cabot, Arkansas.

This is the house at Pocahontas, where life seemed to go at a slow pace. Lots of memories from the times there.

This is in front of the house where Auntie and I lived with our parents, John and Janie Waldron, until we got married.

Jessica's Condition

We found out Friday that Jessicas lung condition has gotten a lot worse. Her lung capacity has dropped from 50% to 40% and as a result, she has lost 10 lbs because her body has to work that much harder to keep her alive. She is going to go on some experimental drugs in hopes that it will delay her lungs from getting any worse. If these drugs do not help, she will have to placed on the emergency lung transplant list, and then it becomes a waiting game. Keep us in your prayers.
