Uncle Bill was so gentle___ with a quiet sense of humor. I remember as a little girl thinking he was my dad's twin.

Uncle Bill was a devoted follower of Jesus and last night, when I was talking to my dad, we realized that Grandma and Grandpa Thompson and Uncle Ray were having a very, very good day in heaven.

In true Thompson man tradition he was married to a spitfire...and he conceived a spitfire daughter and a gentle son. I know they are so sad to be without their dad/husband.

We are all sad. But what an honor to have witnessed a moral, ethical, kind, humorous man live out his life here on this earth. I doubt he had an enemy because he was so easy to love.

Funny moment...as you know, I wake up to music. As you DON'T know, I go to sleep to music. Last night as I turned on the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir to go to sleep, I thought of Uncle Bill. How fun to be in the very presence of God forever. Then I thought...oh dear...I wonder if there are any musical instruments playing....
(those of you who knew his belief get that).....

Dad, you gave us great uncles and aunts. Wonderful, hardworking, salt of the earth, good hearted people. Grandma and Grandpa have so much to rejoice about.

Some of you have wondered what was wrong with your Uncle Bill. This is part of an email I got from JoAnn after one of her visits to see him.
"We had a conversation with the nursing supervisor when we were visiting Bill last week. She explained that he has Vascular Dementia. We had never heard of it, but Chad knew what it was. It seems that his blood vessels retract and the blood flow is cut off to his brain. It apparently affects different people different ways. With Bill it is affecting his muscles. That is what is causing him to draw back and have what we saw as spasm. She said this condition was getting worse. It can progress slowly or go fast. She said he could get to where he is in a fetal position and could not or would not eat. It is so very sad."
He got pneumonia though and I think that was what took his life sooner.
