Stephen, your rendition of my mother brings to life the loving memories of her.
She had six children and each one was a favorite her's.
Thanks for bringing this happy memory back to life for us.
Dad
I left out the word "of." Just shows how forgetful I am. But I am old. I am 80.
Dad
I remember her doing that and you kids would ask her to sing it again, even though it scared you when she screamed. A funny memory of her.
Lovely. Just lovely.
You had to know the stage was being set when she started undoing her hair which she kept in a rolled circular bun around her head. One by one the bobby pins came out...then she started brushing it down (and it was really long). We would then ask her to sing it and I would love to be sitting right next to her, feeling the fat in her upper arms. I would stroke her upper arms as I snuggled close to her. All my cousins would be gathered around and we would be hanging in anticipation of the scream! She could sing that "hmmmhmmmhmmm" part SOO spooky. Funny how such a gentle woman could do this and we just absolutely loved it. I can still see her little crooked grin when we would ask her to sing it.
She had a few other hits under her belt..."Froggy Went A Courtn'" and
some song about a goose.
