I started working on the LG pitch 2 weeks before Thanksgiving and only got to go home long enough to see Jonah make it home from his hospital stay. I was in NY, then Dallas, then Chicago, then Korea. It was crazy. But satisfying. I don't know if we can win but we made the finals against 2 of the largest agencies in the world. We are soooo close. We found out they loved us but are nervous we don't have to global footprint of the competitors. It's true... So we will see.
I would post pics of Korea but frankly we never got out of the conference rooms and when we did we only drove through Seoul. If I didn't know I was in Korea I doubt I would figure out right away. It's completely westernized. Looks like almost any big city in the US. But the people are much nicer. Polite. My favorite part was working with them and studying their culture. In my part of the presentation I began by saying "Anyunghaseo". Got a big laugh--trying to greet them in my best Chicago accent Korean. It was great ice breaker. They are fun people.
Then on return, I was pretty out of sync. I got home Friday morning CST. Took two naps at home-after sleeping most of the 15 hour plane ride home. Then went to bed at midnight and woke up the next day at 3 pm. I have never done that in my life. I am old. That's all there is to it. I did the all nighters just like the young designers but didn't recover as quickly. Quite a trip.
Karen drove up Sunday and we came downtown to Chicago. I saw my oncologist. And then today I had my chemoembolization. They stuck a catheter up my femoral artery, into the liver, and gave it a 200x does of chemo right at the tumors (4 altogether). So far no side effects. Will see if I fare as well tomorrow. They will release me around noon if all is well. Karen's going to drive me home for the holidays. I have a feeling Jonah will be as good as any drug for me to recover by. : )
So that's about it...a quick catch up.
Hey, one last thing...check this out. Remember how Kristen always did voices. Well now she has a real doll to do it with. Look at the variety of faces he makes when tired and hungry.
