A Tiny Tear in the Fabric of the Universe

So I'm standing in the living room of my friend A.J. making small talk when it happened. I had come by to borrow a midi controller and it was my first time setting foot in his home. We had digressed about cats, Christian rock and a pretty mindblowing concept for a screenplay based on A.J.'s recent breakup when I looked across the room and saw it. And my speech slurred to a stop. "Wha–? Is that... I don't, under...."

A.J. stared at me, perplexed, his big, sweet Ewok eyes growing wider. He said nothing.

"Why do you have that...? I mean, what is that? I just don't understand."

I was staring at this painting, on the cover of an LP, which he had framed and set on his table.

And the tiny tear in the fabric of the universe happened in my brain, which short-circuited because I couldn't understand what multiple levels of perverse indie irony had caused someone to create a retro-tinged oil painting of spoof-epic Tropic Thunder's Kirk Lazurus (actually the white actor Robert Downey Jr. in blackface), and dress him in WWII-era pilot garb.

I heard A.J., as if from a great distance, mumbling something about Jazz composer Thelonious Monk and great deals on frames from Urban Outfitters, but I had already fallen down the rabbit hole.

Very responsible, unintelligble retro rhetoric communication with a insightful but fogged approach to clarity of informed communicable
dialog that regresses up to new heights of lower thought processes and away from inside the mind and deep into and through out of the heart and soul.

Do you agree mom?

I agree. I couldn't have said it better.

As I read what he wrote, I wondered what it was about but I just thought maybe it was my age that was keeping me from understanding. I feel better!

Sorry guys. Didn't mean to confuse anybody. Tropic Thunder is a recent movie, and the white actor Robert Downey Jr. plays a white actor who has donned 'blackface' to play a black role. It's a comedy. But I was in a friend's house and saw that Thelonious Monk LP, which is very old, and I swore it was Robert Downey Jr. in black face from Tropic Thunder. This produced a disorienting effect in my mind. That's all. Just goofing around.

must be a 'creatives' thing. I got it completely. Enjoyed it.

I think it is a CULTURAL thing.
Mom and I wouldn't exactly be breaking down the door of Tropic Thunder. The only thing I would notice about the poster would be where and what room it would look best in....
Face it...mom and I only frequent the blog to see and hear from the people we love...we don't get 1/3 of the jokes ...if that. I can just laugh knowing you guys think something is funny.
