Jonah Michael Cassidy

Hey, I don't have too many pics as I wasn't able to be there. I am in Dallas. Doh! : (

I can't wait to get home Wednesday to see him

He weighed into the world at 1:12 pm yesterday, 7.5 lbs and 17 inches long. Little fella. He's had a few breathing issues and a slight fever so they took him to a nearby hospital last night. They are sure it's simply a case of him swallowing some fluid during birth but are being thorough in ruling out other infections.

Overall Kristen's labor was fast--4 hours. So he came rushing into the world!

Anyway, here are the few pics I've been able to find.

ThanksGiving 2010

This year will be very special and momentous. As the family grows ever larger, we are running out of room. We will have to consider other locations next year. Perhaps Richards apartment in St Louis:)

So this year we will celebrate the great times at Grandma/Grandpa Thompsons by taking a family portrait at a nearby locale. Also, we will be conducting video/audio recordings of everyone (who wants to...) asking questions of our patriarch and matriarch. We will be editing the video/audio so you can all have a copy as a momento. Ten or 20 years from now, you will be so glad you have it.

We'll make the photo painless as possible. Trust me. You'll be glad you did it. It will be a great historical memento.

We've got lots to be thankful for!

Few pictures to update you.

Poor Otis

Just when he thought the humiliation of Halloween costuming was over, he gets fitted for Christmas. The look on his face says it all. Funnier, look in the background. That's Chuckles, Kristen's pug, in an infant's onesie. She figured that out long ago--so he wouldn't be tempted to have an accident. She should've patented the design. Zaniness at the thompson zoo, for sure.

If still reading: Kristen went to the hospital yesterday with signs of labor. After hours they sent her home. Evidently Jonah is choosing to extend his stay in the comfort zone a while longer.

Also, am getting an MRI next week. Doc's can't tell if I have a tumour or a cyst in my liver. Either way they are gonna zap it after getting a confirmation. I'll keep you posted.

November is Purple!

My story at http://www.knowitfightitendit.org/node/78

Please spread the message. Btw, I go back to the doc Wednesday to see what we're gonna do about this newest liver tumor. I'll keep you posted.

Stephen

Almost ready...

Kristen, Bryan, and I spent yesterday morning at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. Beautiful day. So we found a nice spot and took a few pics of Kristen--my not so little girl anymore. : ) We're all anxiously awaiting the day Jonah decides to grace us with his appearance. If he's anything like his momma it will be at the most unexpected time and place. Just sayin...

Anyway, we're sticking close to home these days, needless to say.

Another nice thing yesterday--Emily visited us in E. We had a nice lunch, chat, and took her to our zoo. My bet is she was a tad overwhelmed by all the animals, but hey...it's us. Emily is a sweet young woman. We enjoyed having her visit and hope she'll come again.

Lastly, we all went to the little Halloween parade to end the evening. What fun to see the really bad floats but genuine spirits and people marching. It's like going back in time. Our third here and the best yet. Elmo and Otis went as U of I football players and Lily the cheerleader. : )

Claire's Halloween

For Halloween, Claire wanted to be Pebbles, a character from the Flinstones, a show she'd never seen until this week. I don't bother to question anything anymore.

An Update on SIUC

Hi everyone. I am finally able to post things thanks to Daniel. I thought I should give you all an update on the college life! It's a bit of a struggle being 6 hours away from home. Thankfully I have 3 amazing friends that are making the transition much easier. I'm studying biology (which is already keeping me very busy), but I'm working hard! Fortunately I have strong Thompson genes and I am still very independent and have yet to conform to the crazies that I go to school with. I attempted to join a sorority and quickly learned three days later that I am way too much of my own person to conform to that. So I quit. I'm still keeping up with my art...(slowly but surely), and hope that I might finish one of my two paintings in the next four years or so. Ha!

I can't wait to see all of you at Thanksgiving! Miss you, Thompson clan.

Sincerely your youngest,

Em

Song MY Grandma Thompson sang

My cousin sent these words to me. Grandma Thompson would gather all the little kids around, let her hair down, and sing...then alway finished it with a crazy loud scream. Ever wonder where Dad got his humor? Yup...Grandma T. Priceless.

SKIN AND BONES

There was an old woman,---skin and bones,-

-mmm-mmmmm-mmmmmm

She thought she’d go to church one day ,to hear the parson preach and pray

Mmmmmm---mmmmm--mmmmm

She got to the church house door, she thought she‘,d rest a little more

Mmmmmm---mmmmmm-mmmmmm

She looked up and she looked down, she spied a corspe upon the ground

Mmmmmmm--mmmmmm--mmmmmmm

The woman to the preacher said, will we look so when we are dead

Mmmmmm-mmmmmmm-mmmmmmmm

The preacher to the woman said ,yes we’ll look so when we are dead

Mmmmmm---mmmmmmm-mmmmmmm

The preacher preached & the woman sung (NOW SCREAM)

My in-house model

I have a little knitting shop online, as most of you probably already know considering I spent my first Thanksgiving with you all in 2007 knitting like crazy to get it launched during the holidays that year. Though I've stepped back a little this year, I'm back to knitting and putting new things in the shop all the time. (You can check it out HERE if you are so inclined).

I am lucky enough to have a fabulous, free-of-charge, in-house model! Here are a couple of shots of us yesterday during a mini-photo shoot.

Thompson/Johnson hair history

When Christopher was in junior high, I bought a pair of hair clippers and didn't realize one setting shaved the head. I had already begun cutting his hair when I realized it was cutting it to the scalp. I couldn't just leave a chunck out, so I did a whole strip around his head. This was WAY before those type of haircuts were in style. He had to go to school and the ass. principle made a smart comment in chapel about some people cutting their hair with a lawnmower. I felt like the worst mom in the world, and Christopher was so nice about it. He just said, "It's ok mom." It took so long to grow out. Then he grew into an obsession about his big hair...and we spent a fortune on haircuts to keep his hair from getting big.

Great Moments in Thompson History

In 1991, when Matthew was in 7th grade, he permed his hair.

Happy Birthday Beautiful!

Today is Jessica's birthday. Jessica is the most amazing person I have ever met, and luckily I am married to her. Everyone knows the health issues Jessica has been dealt. But probably the biggest blow to her was not the fact she couldn't breath like everyone else....or all the other problems that come with CF, but the fact that she would never be able to have children of her own. Jessica is an amazing mom to Sepporah, but I knew that deep down Jessica always hurt because having a child of her own was a dream. Well God has blessed her and given her a son that she can love and care for just like she does Sepporah. Words really can't explain the amount of happiness I have for her . I love you Jess and hope this year is the best one yet!

For my Mom

I got an email from my mom this morning that simply yet powerfully said "Blog"....the translation of this single syllable word means "You had better get some pictures of Samuel up soon"....my mom is a warrior with the pen. So here are some pictures of the family:

The first time Grandma got to hold Samuel.

Eating a hot dog that Jessica cooked for me. She can cook one mean hot dog.

Crazy eyes Sepporah....she is looking at candy.

I bought Jessica a fire pit for her birthday. Sepporah dropped more hot dogs than she ate. I told her she would make a horrible American Indian wife.....her Indian name would be Dropwhatshecooks.....it would prevent her from getting married :)

Robin (Sepporah's mom) took some pictures of Samuel.

How did that get in here?

Sepporah dressed him and took this photo.

Batman sung by a Pug

I know there are a million videos on Youtube, but this one caught my eye and made me laugh. It's dedicated to Batman and dog lovers.
