I got this email out of the blue from Uncle Scott. I assume it's because I posted on Facebook that I had a sinus infection last week. No matter the reason, it's still great advice.
Matthew,
I'm going to give you the best advice I ever got. DON'T PICK YOUR NOSE. That's right. When you pick your nose, you insert germs and bacteria from your fingers onto the most sensitive capillaries of your nose. A cold can develop in minutes.
So if you have to pick, blow immediately afterwords.
This sounds crazy, but I have not had a cold in over three years!
Scott

Funny, I always think of Scott as being a nose-picker kind of guy...
So Scott didn't take after Dad. Scott's advice is don't put your finger up your nose. Dad's advice is yogurt and granola on everything. So I'll pitch in--"Culturelle and Acai". Probiotics and antioxidants. Oddly since the surgery I've been more cold free than ever before. Fuel the immune system so it can do its job. BTW--I happen to agree with Scott though. Hand to any part of the face is a bad idea. Germs love that elevator to the insides.
