Olé!

Yesterday was Cinco de Mayo, and in honor of that, we had enchiladas at our place.

We even got Claire to try one bite:

So, she deferred to her lasagna, Daniel and I had the enchiladas, and our special guest for the night -- my nephew Lucas, had PB&J. Although there wasn't much play time, Claire and Lucas were able to create one maraca out of a can, jewelry beads (which the Easter Bunny will never, ever, ever get again because they are all over our house), paper and tape before dinner. (Claire had just come from dance class, if you're wondering about the outfit!)

Oh, where did I get my crown, you ask? Claire made me a special Cinco de Mayo crown at school. Daddy's wasn't finished until I was taking Lucas home. Claire gave the blue maraca to Lucas and made a red one for herself later. The whole way back to his house (about a half hour), he shook the maraca and quietly sang the Daniel Johnson original, "Buenos Noches, Tobias."

Here are a few more pictures from dinner:

I had taken Lucas to make his Mama a Mother's Day present and then we came to the house. He immediately wanted to go in Claire's room and find her black horse, which he apparently saw in the 2 minutes he was in her room at the last house. I didn't know what he was talking about, but we quickly found it.

Lucas ran around terrorizing the cats. Meanwhile, I snapped a few shots of the house. Clearly, we're not yet unpacked all the way, and this is only a couple of rooms of the house, but here you go!

Kirsten...you amaze me. Your house looks wonderful! I am always amazed at your ability to celebrate the mundane. You make so many things special. Love the crown. Don't be surprised though if the three boys start a whole "royal-crown-subjects" running joke on you...I wore a crown once, while gardening, and stories still abound.

Oh, you shouldn't be amazed by me! Daniel is largely responsible for the state of our house. My friend Sally and I got it started, he really took it to the next level.

Claire's birthday is a good motivator to get us all moved in and ready to roll in the next couple of weeks!

I think I need to hear about this crown story. I was just being a good "stepmom" -- or maybe it was all just a cruel joke and I haven't received the wrath of the Johnson boys yet...
